Coburg The municipal housing association of the city of Coburg is temporarily shutting off the gas for the heating of 2,800 of its tenants. The step is intended to save fuel for the winter and make a contribution to the fight against climate change, said Christian Meyer, Managing Director of Housing, on Friday of the German Press Agency. The hot water supply is maintained, bathing and showering are still possible without restrictions.
It is not yet possible to calculate how high the savings potential will be when switching off over the summer months, said Meyer. However, he is hoping for noticeable effects. “We do what probably every second homeowner does – we turn off the heating in summer.”
