Berlin February 27, 2022 is already a historic day. Not only because the Bundestag is convening for a special session on a Sunday for the first time in its existence. Especially on this day nothing will be the same as it was before.
Because a grand coalition is forming in parliament against Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war of aggression in Ukraine. Because after years of neglect of the Bundeswehr, 100 billion euros will be made available in one fell swoop to strengthen defense capabilities. Because arms exports to crisis and war zones are suddenly no longer taboo. And because even the left faction, which has many “Putin understanders” in its ranks, clearly admits that it was wrong in choosing the Russian president.
