The gas importer is a group of companies active throughout Europe with over 20 companies.

Dusseldorf The gas importer VNG wants to apply to the Ministry of Economic Affairs for stabilization measures because of the sharp rise in energy prices. The subsidiary of the utility EnBW announced on Friday morning that these measures should absorb the significant losses and enable business activities to continue.

VNG is Germany’s third largest gas importer, after Uniper and former Gazprom subsidiary Gazprom Germania. The latter is now under the trusteeship of the federal government and is now called SEFE. It is true that VNG, SEFE and Uniper usually import gas directly from Russia. But in addition, VNG has also received deliveries from SEFE to date. Apparently this doesn’t happen.

In an interview with the Leipziger Volkszeitung a few days ago, VNG boss Ulf Heitmüller said that a gas supply contract with a German company with a volume of 6.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year would no longer be served. The industry service Energate states that VNG is in legal disputes with a SEFE subsidiary over further gas deliveries.
