The research takes into account data collected from iFixit to determine which smartphones are easiest and most difficult to repair at home, based on average repair times and difficulty of repair manual instructions available online.

Samsung’s Galaxy phones released in 2022 proved to be the easiest to repair; In terms of ease of DIY repair, the Galaxy S22 Ultra ranked third after the Galaxy A40 (2019) and the Moto G7, which were released in the same year. The second-ranked Galaxy A40 has an average of 32.6 minutes per repair, with 42.9 percent of its repairs considered easy. The average repair time of the Galaxy S22 Ultra is 48.1 minutes, and a remarkable 33.3 percent of these repairs are easily performed.

Other than that, the hardest-to-repair smartphone was the Google Pixel 7 (2022). After the smartphone with an average repair time of 60.3 minutes, the Galaxy Note 10 model takes the second place with an average repair time of 58.4 minutes. In the third place of the list, we come across the 3rd generation iPhone SE. These phones were labeled as not suitable for DIY repair in the relevant research, due to repair times and difficult-to-follow repair instructions.
