Dusseldorf The rapidly increasing energy costs make many Germans think about replacing their heating systems. There is some information and offers – but which type of heating is the cheapest? In view of the high energy prices, it is not only the acquisition costs that are important, but also what consumers pay for the operation. Current price comparisons are difficult to find.
The Handelsblatt, together with the North Rhine-Westphalia consumer advice center, calculated how expensive it is to heat a typical German four-person house using various technologies. The sample calculations refer to a free-standing single-family house, built in 1985, with 150 square meters of living space.
How much consumers pay for a heater over the years depends on numerous small factors, such as the frequency of maintenance, the development of electricity and gas costs and the lifespan of the various types of heating. Not everything could be taken into account in the sample calculation, it does not replace a professional full cost comparison, but it is a good starting point to get an initial overview.
