Head of statutory health insurance Gassen, Stiko chairman Mertens and physician Scherer on the current corona situation

the Corona numbers in Bavaria continue to rise. On Tuesday, the Berlin Robert Koch Institute reported the seven-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants in the state with the new record of 248.9 – slightly above the incidence of the previous day of 248.1. According to the RKI figures, the highest incidence nationwide was still in the district of Mühldorf am Inn with 650.7. This is slightly less than the previous day’s record 654.2.

However, the RKI’s figures from Tuesday after the long holiday weekend may be skewed. Reports from individual health authorities could have been received late due to public holidays and could only be included in the statistics on the following days.

However, the seven-day incidence is no longer the decisive factor when assessing the infection situation. With a vaccination rate of more than 64 percent in Bavaria, more attention is now paid to hospital occupancy – shown with the so-called hospital traffic light. This is still green throughout Bavaria.

However, it already shows red light regionally in some areas of southern Bavaria. It means that the hospitals are threatened with overload. For this reason, regions in southern Bavaria that were particularly hard hit had already tightened the rules last week, for example with regard to the mask requirement and for attending public events.

From Monday to Tuesday, 2327 new corona infections and seven new deaths were added throughout Bavaria within 24 hours, as the RKI figures further show.
