HAVELSAN Kapgan SPG features and shooting test

Unmanned aerial, sea and land vehicles developed by domestic defense industry companies have become the pioneers in their classes. After the UAV-SİHA and other aircraft, which dozens of countries lined up to buy, we see that private SİDAs and armed unmanned ground vehicles called UAVs, which are used for the first time in NATO history, come. Finally, Kapgan, developed by HAVELSAN, completed its first firing test. Here are Kapgan SGA features…

Kapgan UG features and shooting test

Although Kapkan ICA looks like a small armored vehicle from the outside, it is actually a more functional and strategic land vehicle in terms of its features. It is extremely quiet as it uses an electric motor. In this way, he can move freely without being noticed.

In addition, although it is effective against both land and air targets in possible usage scenarios in open areas and border lines, it will actually make a difference with the advantage of its size and its use in areas with dense construction. For example, it has a very suitable structure for operations like the Sur clashes in 2016 and the Olive Branch operation in 2018.

Developed by ASELSAN and SEFİNE Shipyard, MİR SİDA took part in herd duty together with ALBATROS S.

Kapgan, which is in the heavy class, has a wheeled structure, not tracked, unlike the Barkan, Kaplan, Dagger and Aslan we have seen before. With this structure, it looks like a reduced version of FNSS’ armored vehicles rather than tanks.

Of course, as an advantage of the wheels, despite its size and useful load capacity, it can easily keep up with the soldiers walking in the city. At the same time, it can easily overcome obstacles of half a meter and ditches deeper than 1 meter.

Although it has been a short time since its introduction, it has achieved successful results in gun shooting tests with Unirobotics’ gun turret and Samsun Yurt Savunma’s Canik M2 QCB 12.7 millimeter heavy machine gun integrated. You can watch the footage via the link below.
