Tokyo Japan’s government was involved in the general economic sanctions against its direct neighbor Russia from the start. But politicians across all parties are silent on one issue: possible sanctions against Russia’s energy sector.

The pressure to explain yourself increases. Because not only the USA wants to stop importing oil and gas from Russia. The oil companies Shell and Exxon Mobil also want to get out of two oil and gas projects on the Russian island of Sakhalin. But Japan’s government and the trading houses in the country are involved in them.
