The visa crisis that has been going on for months in Turkey has now reached different dimensions. Turkey has become the country with the highest increase in rejections to Schengen applications. Today, critical news came for those who objected to the rejection and those who will.

“With the lifting of travel restrictions imposed during the pandemic process, our visa departments are experiencing a significant increase in applications, in some cases exceeding pre-COVID-19 levels. This results in some applicants having to wait longer for an appointment to apply for a visa.
For processing visa applications to create additional capacities and shorten waiting times We are launching a pilot project in China, Morocco and Turkey – suspend.
Appeals are a voluntarily recognized remedy and are therefore not prescribed by law. Within the scope of the pilot project, the suspension of our duties abroad they processed whether it will help increase the number of applications and thus reduce waiting times for all passengers. The pilot project will run for six months. Then the results will be evaluated. If the pilot is successful, we will consider expanding it to include other visa sections.”

“The decision on the visa application will be taken on the same legal basis as before. If it is understood from the submitted documents that the visa requirements are met, the missions will continue to issue visas.

Applicants can request the refusal to be reviewed in an administrative procedure within a legal period or apply for a new visa. However, our visa departments will no longer review previously submitted applications.
Applicants who have received a notice of refusal before 1 June stating that they can report their refusal can still be reviewed by the mission abroad within the period specified in the notification.”
