Berlin Germany will deliver 15 Leopard 2 A4 heavy battle tanks to the Czech Republic as part of the so-called “ring exchange”. This was announced by the Federal Ministry of Defense on Wednesday. The Czech cabinet had previously decided to supply Ukraine with heavy weapons from its own stocks.

“The exchange of rings with the Czech Republic is another very good example of how we can help Ukraine quickly and easily in its courageous fight against Russian aggression,” said Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD). “Czech Republic supplies heavy weapons, we help to close the gaps with Leopard tanks from German industrial stocks.”

The tanks come from stocks of the German armaments industry. The costs incurred when exchanging rings are borne by the German state. Ammunition and spare parts will also be included. The necessary agreements are in preparation, it said. In addition to the delivery of the tanks, the Bundeswehr will support the training of Czech soldiers.

Self-propelled howitzers are also supplied
