German companies continue to invest in China

Berlin Despite warnings about over-dependence on China, German corporations continue to invest heavily in the world’s second largest economy. The investments are concentrated in particular on large companies, above all the German car manufacturers. This is the conclusion of a study published by the Rhodium Group on Thursday.

As the study shows, Volkswagen has been among the top three companies every year for the past four years. Daimler, which split into Mercedes-Benz and Daimler Truck in December 2021, also stands out. The company ranked fourth in each of the years 2018 to 2020. The chemical giant BASF was also among the top three companies in 2020 and 2021.
