Berlin The coalition agreement between the SPD, Greens and FDP speaks a clear language: “We do not want to issue any new permits for oil and gas drilling beyond the framework operating permits granted for the German North Sea and Baltic Sea,” it says. In view of the energy supply crisis, the Federal Ministry of Economics is now ready to change course.

“In principle, the statement of the coalition agreement applies, but the current situation requires decisions that are appropriate to the situation,” said the ministry at the request of the Handelsblatt. This makes exploration projects in the German-Dutch part of the North Sea more likely.

The Dutch company One-Dyas only made the final investment decision for gas production in the N05-A field in the North Sea at the end of September. The drilling rig will be erected in the immediate vicinity of the German border in the Dutch part of the North Sea. The gas field also extends to German territory.
