Gas.de stops deliveries – what consumers need to know now

Dusseldorf After larger German energy suppliers, such as Rheinische Elektrizitäts- und Vertriebsgesellschaft and Brandenburger Otima AG, have terminated their natural gas supply contracts with consumers at short notice, Gas.de and its Grünwelt brand are now also stopping deliveries.

The low-cost provider from Kaarst in North Rhine-Westphalia is troubled by the current sharp rise in prices on the gas market, as Gas.de reports on its website. Consumer advocates recommend customers to clarify the contractual relationships as soon as possible. In addition, customers may be able to file a claim for damages. No, the gas supply is guaranteed at all times. Consumers do not have to worry about it: If providers such as Gas.de terminate the supply contracts, customers automatically slip into the replacement supply. The local basic supplier steps in directly and continues to supply customers with electricity or gas.
