Defense industry contributions of domestic private companies in Turkey are increasing day by day. Just as Baykar’s name is frequently heard in unmanned aerial vehicles as well as TAI, a similar situation applies to FNSS in land vehicles. Especially with Pars wheeled armored vehicles and Kaplan tracked armored vehicles, it responds to the needs of our country.
Now, a good thing has come on the export side. For FNSS Kaplan MT, the first steps of which were taken in 2010, an agreement of 30 million dollars was reached for Indonesia in 2015. The development, prototype and testing phases of the project (tested in both countries) have been completed. In the first step, 18 units (8 of which will be produced in Indonesia) will be delivered for Indonesia’s medium class tank needs.
Interested in Bangladesh, Brunei and Philippines
FNSS production armored vehicles have been used by our army for many years. Finally, the company came to the fore with its floating armored vehicles called ZAHA, which will be used in our TCG Anadolu amphibious assault ship, which was launched in the past months.
However, it can develop and produce products not only for our country, but also in line with the needs of other countries. In this direction, Kaplan MT offers very innovative technologies and features among medium-class tanks.
Although it is currently known that Kaplan MT will only be exported to Indonesia, there are many countries showing interest such as Bangladesh, Brunei and the Philippines. Therefore, we may hear that this model or other vehicles developed according to special requests will be exported to more countries in the coming years.
