EHang EH216-S flying taxi is on sale!
EHang Holdings, a pioneer in urban air mobility, has launched the EH216-S pilotless eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft. This aircraft operates entirely on electricity and can be used as a short-distance transportation vehicle. Drawing attention with the certificates it received from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), EH216-S is a world first in its field.
Key features of the EH216-S include fully autonomous flight capabilities, electrical operation, comprehensive safety features and intelligent command-control systems. This aircraft has the capacity to carry two passengers and can reach a speed of 130 km per hour. This vehicle, which can stay in the air for approximately 25 minutes, can carry a load of 225-270 kilograms and has a range of 35 km on a single charge.
While the Chinese sales price for EHang EH216-S was determined as 333 thousand dollars, the recommended retail price for global markets was announced as 410 thousand dollars. This innovative flying taxi model of EHang can be used in various fields such as air taxi services, air tourism, airport shuttles and inter-island transportation. It also has the ability to land safely even if more than one of its propellers fail.
It looks like the Hefei government will give the first order. It has announced that it intends to purchase at least 100 of the EH216 series pilotless aircraft or provide financial support of up to 100 million US dollars.
