Cologne In many companies, the annual appraisals begin in November – and with them the salary negotiations. But not everyone speaks out when they want more money. In the 2020 corona year, only around a quarter of those surveyed asked about a raise. The majority of Germans are silent about their own payment in the performance interview.

Not asking for more money in the first place is the most obvious reason why you won’t get a raise. But even those who take the courage and discuss their own payment are not always successful in the negotiation. Here are the five most common mistakes in salary negotiations – and how to get around them. Salary trainers Conrad Pramböck and Claudia Kimich provided the input for this.
