Farewell to Samsung Exynos: New processor is on the way!

Samsung has been powering its smartphones for a while with its Exynos processors. The South Korean manufacturer, which included the Exynos 2100 processor in its flagship S21 model last year, switched to Qualcomm signed Snapdragon processors in the S22 and S23 models introduced this year. Although the company does not use it in its high-end models, it has not given up on its own processors yet.

Samsung is preparing to produce its own CPU technology

Samsung wants to take an ambitious role in the processor industry. It was stated that the South Korean technology company took an important step in this regard and formed a team to develop a special CPU core. The company has hired a former AMD employee to lead this new team.

Samsung is currently using Arm CPU cores ready for Exynos processors. However, it is predicted that the company’s use of its own special cores will theoretically provide better performance and better efficiency. Qualcomm is actually following a similar path with Samsung in this regard. The company will use its own processor cores in the Orion processors it will offer on computers. For mobile processors, the company is expected to follow this path.

Samsung recently showcased the Exynos 1380 processor, which appeals to the middle segment. So what does the processor offer users?

The South Korean manufacturer has previously developed special cores for its processors. The company had previously used custom Mongoose CPU cores in Exynos processors from 2016 to 2020. However, starting from 2021, it ended this attempt by switching to Arm signed processor cores. The Exynos 990 was the last processor to use Samsung’s custom core.

On the other hand, Samsung has also accelerated the work of new generation smartphone processors. For the new processors to be introduced in 2025, the name Galaxy Chip is on the agenda. According to the information received, these processors will be connected to Arm technology in the first place. Because it is stated that it takes more than a few years to develop a custom CPU core.

It seems that Samsung will announce its name much more seriously in the processor industry in the coming years. So what do you think about Samsung signed processors? You can share your views with us in the comments section. You can watch the related video below.
