Ex-Siemens boss Kaeser advises against an immediate energy boycott

The longtime Siemens boss and current chief controller of Siemens Energy and Daimler Truck admits mistakes in dealing with Putin.

Munich What is Vladimir Putin up to? How far will the Russian President go? These are questions that the western world is asking after the Bucha war crimes. Joe Kaeser is someone who can assess Putin better than many politicians. The longtime Siemens boss has known the president personally for many years and has had numerous face-to-face meetings with him.

Kaeser sees a change in Putin – “from a man who was looking for dialogue and proximity to Europe, to a president who followed an extremely cold logic, to a regent who views world history from an ideological point of view”. “This is very worrying,” said the manager, who now heads the supervisory boards of Daimler Truck and Siemens Energy, in an interview with the Handelsblatt.
