The Ministry of National Education has prepared the names and course scope of the new course that it has been working on for a while. The courses were designated as “etiquette” in high schools and “etiquette and courtesy” in secondary schools. It was announced that the names were examined and given for pedagogical suitability.
The goal is for students to realize the importance of etiquette and courtesy in communication.
MEB announced that the curriculum of the “etiquette and politeness” course prepared by the General Directorate of Secondary Education and the “etiquette and courtesy” course prepared by the General Directorate of Basic Education were approved by the Board of Education and Discipline.
The course includes 72 hours of instruction at two levels. The curriculum at the first level of the course consisted of four units: “etiquette and courtesy”, “etiquette and courtesy in the family”, “etiquette and courtesy in the school environment”, “etiquette and courtesy in society”.
What will the content of the course be like and what is its aim?
With the “etiquette and courtesy” course that will be taught as an elective at all levels in secondary schools, students will realize the importance of etiquette and courtesy in communication; It was aimed for them to display etiquette and courtesy in family, school, society and interpersonal relationships. The aim of the lessons was for students to understand the importance of etiquette and courtesy in different cultures, to be sensitive to the environment, and to realize the importance of etiquette and courtesy in digital environments.
In the curriculum of the second level of the course, there are five units: “etiquette and courtesy”, “etiquette and courtesy in interpersonal relations”, “etiquette and courtesy in the environment”, “etiquette and courtesy in digital environments”, “etiquette and courtesy in different cultures”. took place.

Activities such as drama, observation and discussion will be organized in high schools.
The course, which includes a 36-hour curriculum in the 9th and 10th grades of high school, was included in the scope of elective courses.
The “Etiquette” course curriculum was prepared for practice, taking into account Turkish culture and social developments, to ensure that the rules of etiquette and courtesy are discussed from a broad perspective.
An interesting research and practice-oriented learning process was planned, enriched with activities to develop the skills necessary for achievements in the courses where students were expected to speak, dress and behave appropriately.
