Ethereum Inventor Evaluates Security: A New Update?

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin evaluated the best strategies for quantum proofing. Buterin says the best strategies are all based on recursive STARKs. That’s why Buterin emphasizes the need to work hard on the best and most efficient STARK protocols. The Ethereum inventor has been creating quantum-resistant account abstraction wallet codes since 2017.

Ethereum co-founder is looking for the best and most efficient solution!

Vitalik Buterin believes that the best strategies for quantum impermeability are all based on recursive STARKs. Buterin recently shared a post on X regarding the issue. Buterin says the best option is to continue working hard on the STARK protocols.

Buterin says he has been creating quantum-resistant account abstraction wallet codes since 2017. He notes that by creating efficient STARK protocols, it is possible for Blockchain developers to essentially create ‘signature aggregation’ with protocols. The Ethereum inventor also emphasizes that with a ten to twenty-year timeline for quantum computing, the best thing to do would be to start working immediately on the underlying infrastructure, which he sees as the recursive STARK protocols. Additionally, Buterin recommends that the blockchain industry ensure that decisions made now are compatible going forward with a quantum-resistant future.

Buterin responds to ChainSafe co-founder Gregory Markou

Meanwhile, Buterin refers to a protocol code 4337 on Github. So he notes that this is prospectively compatible with quantum resistance in more ways than one. He emphasizes that the merging feature of the protocol is optional for now. However, he notes that this will become necessary given the higher baseline overhead of hash-based signatures.

Gregory Markou, co-founder of ChainSafe, started a discussion about the 3074 competitor EIP-7702 by Buterin. Buterin’s post was a response to Markou. Markou noted that it addresses a major hurdle of default 3074 as special signing requirements. Thus, he rated the specification as good. However, Markou did not agree to use quantum computing as a counter-argument. He says many people use it over and over again without offering a forward-looking solution. Citing Nomad co-founder James Prestwich, he argues that if quantum computing is to become a real concern rather than a political obstructionist, some extreme action is needed now.
