In the past months USASince the Chinese government suspected that TikTok was accessing data belonging to US users, the application was banned in the country by the decision of the parliament, senate and president. After President Biden signed the decision banning the application, the government demanded that the application be sold to an American company within 6 months. Now, Canadian intelligence is warning citizens not to use TikTok.

Canadian intelligence agency CSIS, warned the public against TikTok. In his statement, the head of CSIS says that the data received by the application can be used by Chinese intelligence and calls on the public not to use TikTok.

Canadian intelligence chief David Vigneault said in a recent interview with CBC News that the Chinese government has different techniques for gathering information from around the world. The head of intelligence also said that the Chinese government’s computers are very powerful, they have a good way of analyzing data, they process all this data with artificial intelligence, and they should not use TikTok.

Electoral law has changed in the South Pacific nation. France banned TikTok in the country where a state of emergency was declared.

After the call not to use TikTok, the central company ByteDance said that no one had previously accessed the data of its users in the USA and Europe. The company hosts user data from the USA and Europe at Oracle in America. The data hosted on Oracle are called Project Texas and Project Clover. A recently published report shows that the company is making a great effort to hide the data of US users.

Company spokesperson Danielle Morgan said in an interview with The Verge:
These claims are not supported by evidence and the truth is thatour company We have never shared Canadian users’ data with the Chinese government and would not provide it even if requested.
