Camacari The future is being built in the industrial area of Camacari. The city named the street “Rua Hidrogenio” – “Hydrogen Street”. A refinery is currently being built there, and the chemical company Unigel is investing 120 million dollars in a plant for the production of green hydrogen. The electricity for this comes from a wind power plant with 230 turbines inland. The German company Thyssen-Krupp Nucera will supply the electrolysers.
There is also a port. From there, tankers with ammonia and hydrogen are to head for Europe from the end of next year. Virtually all of the major wind and solar power providers are based in Camacari. Siemens Energy and Nordex-Acciona are also represented.
According to a McKinsey study, Brazil will catch up with the best locations in the USA, Australia, Spain and Saudi Arabia in terms of the cost of producing hydrogen in 2030.
