End of gas heating, rise of the heat pump

Dusseldorf The heat pump is increasingly displacing gas heating in Germany. In the first half of this year, heating engineers delivered 25 percent more heat pumps than in the same period last year. This is the result of figures from the Federal Association of the German Heating Industry (BDH), which are exclusively available to the Handelsblatt.

At the same time, sales of gas heaters collapsed. This is particularly evident in the second quarter. Handelsblatt calculations show that sales of gas heaters fell by ten percent during this period. The sales figures reflect purchase decisions that were made several months ago. We can hear from the industry that the trend has meanwhile intensified significantly – since Russia has throttled gas supplies.
