san francisco According to media reports, Elon Musk has taken control of the short message service Twitter. The $44 billion purchase of the platform has been completed, reports include CNBC, the New York Times, Bloomberg and Business Insider.
Elon Musk wrote on Twitter early Friday morning: “The Bird is Freed” – a nod to the network’s logo. There has been no response from Twitter to a Handelsblatt request so far.
In one of his first acts, Musk is said to have fired a number of top managers, including CEO Parag Agrawal and CFO Ned Segal. The top manager responsible for the fight against hate speech and false information, Vijaya Gadde, was among the dismissed, it said.
Agrawal and Segal were escorted by security forces from Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters, insiders told Reuters.
