Elon Musk Explains Why He Bought Twitter: Critical Words Before Purchase!

Elon Musk tweeted how he can moderate his plans for Twitter and content ahead of the Twitter acquisition that will take place tomorrow.

Elon Musk Posted a Long Post About Why He Bought Twitter

In a long statement on Twitter, Elon Musk said:

“I wanted to personally call out to you to share my motivation to buy Twitter. There has been a lot of speculation about why I bought Twitter and what I thought about advertising. Most of these were wrong.

I bought Twitter because it is important for the future of civilization to have a common digital space where a wide variety of beliefs can be discussed in a healthy nonviolent way. There is a great danger right now that social media is splintering into far-right and far-left think tanks that generate more hate and divide our society.”

Musk claimed that Twitter “has a strong left-wing bias” despite his own studies that the company’s algorithm empowers right-wing news sources more than others.

Elon Musk continued his statements as follows:

“A large part of the traditional media has fed and served these polarized extremists in their relentless pursuit of clicks, because they believe that is what makes money, but in doing so, the opportunity for dialogue is lost.

That’s why I bought Twitter. I didn’t do this because it would be easy. I didn’t do it to make more money either. I did it to help the humanity I love so much. And I did so with humility, recognizing that, despite our best efforts, failure to meet this goal is a very real possibility.

However, it is clear that Twitter cannot turn into a hell where anything can be said without consequences! In addition to adhering to country laws, our platform should be warm and welcoming to everyone; Here you can choose the experience you want according to your preferences, just as you can choose to watch movies or play video games ranging from all ages to matures.”

Elon Musk has previously said he is “absolutist on freedom of speech” and “opposes censorship that goes beyond the law”.

He continued:

“If people want less freedom of speech, they will ask the government to pass laws to that effect. Therefore, going beyond the law is against the will of the people.

In addition, advertising can delight, entertain and inform you when done correctly; I believe it can show you a service, product, or medical treatment you didn’t know existed but that is right for you. For this to be true, it is crucial to show Twitter users ads that are as relevant to their needs as possible. Low relevance ads are spam, but high relevance ads are actually content!

Basically, Twitter aims to be the most respected advertising platform in the world, strengthening your brand and growing your business. Thank you to everyone who has partnered with us. Let’s build something extraordinary together.”
