SpaceX launched the Premium package with higher performance for Starlink satellite internet service. But the price is also quite high. According to the first data announced, this new service will enable users who received between 50 and 250 Mbps in the past period to reach 500 Mbps speeds.
In addition, thanks to the new Premium package, users who get a value between 10 and 20 Mbps in upload speed will now be able to reach speeds between 20 and 40 Mbps. It is stated that the delay time is 20 to 40 ms (milliseconds).
When we look at the price, Starlink charges a monthly fee of $ 99 for the standard plan. But it wants 5 times that for the Premium package. In other words, users who want to go up to 500 Mbps speeds will have to pay 500 dollars per month.
Of course, it doesn’t just end there. Users who joined the basic plan paid $499 for antenna and other hardware. However, people who choose the Premium package will have to pay $2,500 for similar antennas and equipment. There is also said to be a deposit fee of $500.
SpaceX says its new service will work better in harsh weather conditions and customers will receive priority support 24/7. In addition, he stated that only people who are constantly in snowy and rainy regions due to their location, or who are sparsely populated and live relatively far from cities, can only offer the highest speeds they can buy.
The company announced last October that Starlink will officially exit beta. It recently introduced a new rectangular satellite dish that is much smaller and thinner than the original round one. Also, SpaceX says the new Premium antenna is larger than that and will help provide bandwidth for critical operations even during peak network usage times.
As of mid-January, Starlink has successfully launched a total of more than 2,000 satellites, of which approximately 1,500 are already in orbit. It is also stated that the current system will support up to 4,400 satellites, which is 3 times the current number.
The company says that the equipment available for users who purchased the new Premium package will be rolled out in the second quarter of 2022, namely in April, May and June. Of course, it remains unclear whether this service will come with the standard package or at a later date in our country.
