Dow ends weak week below 30,000 points

Fears of recession are weighing on the markets.

new York The US leading index Dow Jones Industrial ended an extremely dreary week on the stock exchange below the round mark of 30,000 points on Friday. The Dow closed 0.13 percent lower at 29,889 points. In the meantime, investors’ fears of recession had pushed the index to its lowest level since the end of 2020.

Due to the immensely high inflation in the USA and fears of a strong economic slowdown, the Dow posted a loss of almost five percent on a weekly basis.

The market-wide S&P 500 rose by 0.22 percent to 3675 points on the last trading day of the week. The technology stocks held up better, the Nasdaq 100 recovered by 1.24 percent to 11,268 points.
