Ambient Photonics introduced its new solar cell technology for use in indoor environments at the CES 2024 fair held in Las Vegas. He claims that this technology could be the power source of the future, potentially eliminating the need for batteries.

According to the news on futureflow.life, Ambient Photonics will announce everything about the first double-sided solar cell it has developed at CES in the coming days. This indoor double-sided solar cell, which can be used even in low light conditions, can collect indoor light energy from the interior and exterior surfaces simultaneously. Therefore, it can eliminate the need for batteries in remote control devices.
Şirker says his technology can produce three times more power than conventional technologies. It is stated that these new cells were produced using an industrial printing process. Additionally, because special energy harvesting molecules are applied to thin and durable glass substrates, cells of almost any size and shape can be designed.

Ambient’s metal-free synthetic organic dyes have tunable electronic and optical properties so the solar cells can draw power from any indoor light, including compact fluorescent, halogen, LED, fluorescent or shaded natural light. Therefore, as long as it is not pitch dark, it will eliminate the need for batteries in technological devices that require low power.

With a double-sided solar cell, light energy can be collected from both sides. Ambient claims that the front surface delivers 100 percent of the known power of its cells, while the rear surface delivers at least 50 percent of the front surface.
