Dusseldorf Many Edeka customers are currently looking in vain for Granini fruit juice. Germany’s largest grocery retailer did not want to accept the manufacturer’s price increase – six percent is being said in the industry. Eckes-Granini no longer wants to deliver under the old conditions.
Crop failures would have led to significantly higher raw material prices. Glass and recycled PET for bottles have also become scarce and more expensive, Eckes-Granini justified its price demands.
The dispute escalated further when Edeka launched its own juice brand Albi in new bottles a few weeks ago. The competitors claim that they are very similar to Granini’s. The family business sees an “imitation of our iconic Granini bottle” and its rights violated.
