The German market leader in heat pumps is selling its main business to a US competitor.

Dusseldorf, Berlin It’s a deal with political implications. Heating engineer Viessmann, family-owned since it was founded in 1917, sells its main business to the USA. Several people familiar with the events reported this to the Handelsblatt. According to the plans, the family business wants to sell the air conditioning solutions business to the Florida-based system manufacturer Carrier Global.

The division, which accounts for 85 percent of sales at Viessmann, also includes heat pumps, which the federal government believes are the key technology for modernizing heat supply. From 2024, 500,000 heat pumps are to be installed in Germany each year.
