Deutsche Telekom shares: Deloitte becomes new auditor

Dusseldorf Deloitte will be the new auditor of Deutsche Telekom from the 2022 financial year. The supervisory board of the Bonn group has spoken out in favor of the fourth largest German auditing company, the Handelsblatt learned from corporate and industry circles. Telekom and Deloitte did not want to comment on the information.

The Telekom shareholders now have to decide on the proposal of the supervisory body at the next general meeting. This is considered a formality. Actually, as of this year, EY should be auditing Telekom’s balance sheets. In the course of the legally required rotation, the Bonn-based group has to replace its long-term auditor PwC and initially decided on EY as its successor.

But surprisingly, the Telekom supervisory board withdrew EY’s mandate in spring 2021. This happened under pressure from the federal government, which wanted to take a stand against EY as a shareholder. The company is accused of having failed to check the Wirecard balance sheets.
