When he received an email with “good news”, the player rushed to check what he’d won – with thoughts of quitting his job.

Known as @slushcrablive on TikTok, the social media personality vented to his 85,000 followers about the ordeal.

“I was ready to tell my friends I’d made it, I was about to call them up and say we’re moving to Dubai,” he explained.

“I was about to hand in my notice at work.”

The realisation that he wasn’t a jackpot winner came crashing down once he took a look on the National Lottery App.

In a comical rant, he continued: “You’re making me waste my time to check and telling me I’ve won the lottery when really I’ve only won £5.

“You lot are taking the p**s, I spent £3 on tickets and won a fiver, so I won £2.

“You can’t even buy chicken and chips with £2.”

The disappointed ticket-holder suggested the app only send a notification if players win £100 or over.

“You’re taking up too many GBs on my email unnecessarily,” he added.

Other people were quick to share the same thing had happened to them.

One fellow disappointed punter wrote: “I got an email too, went on the app and all I won was a free £1.50 lucky dip draw.”

“I remember I got this years ago and was shouting at my friend that I won, turns out I won £2,” penned another.

Someone else joked: “That’s enough to by half a Freddo.”

“Very true, why send it”, agreed a third.

This comes as one lucky ticket-holder did bag themselves the second Set For Life prize on the same draw.

They will be handed a whopping £10,000 a month for a year.

Meanwhile, 141,879 other players were in the same boat as SlushCrab and also pocketed a fiver.

This comes as another Brit revealed how she received an email telling her she had won the lottery but was devastated just seconds later.

Kamilla Rose, who presents a show on Capital FM, took to TikTok to share the unfortunate misunderstanding with her followers.
