Despite the crisis, these Dax companies are expecting record profits

Dusseldorf It is a mixture of an energy crisis, double-digit inflation rates and an impending recession that is currently weighing on many companies. However, some Dax companies are coming through the crisis much better than others, as Handelsblatt stock analyst Ulf Sommer found out. He calculated that 15 Dax companies could even make record profits this year.

In the new episode of the Handelsblatt Today Extended podcast special, Sommer introduces four companies that are defying the crisis. Take Deutsche Telekom as an example: this year, the company is likely to surpass its record profit from 2000 for the first time.

The situation then was not comparable to that of today: “Twenty-two years ago, Telekom was only in such a good position because it generated 5.9 billion euros from asset disposals – these are essentially share sales,” explains Sommer in an interview with Host Anis Mičijevic.

At that time, capital increases would have contributed a further 2.9 billion euros to the profit. “Without these two special effects, Telekom would even have been in the red,” says Sommer. That makes the record profit in 2022 even more spectacular.
