Dax starts weaker before the ECB interest rate decision – the 16,000-point target is a long way off

Dusseldorf The key interest rates remain at zero for the time being, the Corona bond purchase program continues unchanged. In short: the ECB is sticking to its expansionary monetary policy, the central bank announced on Thursday.

Investors on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange apparently interpret this as a sign that the economic recovery could be more fragile than expected. Immediately after the interest rate decision, the Dax put it in reverse and lost 0.3 percent to 15,663 points. In the morning, the leading index had already started a little weaker and then fluctuated in the range between 15,660 and 15,720 points.

The Dax had already trended weaker on Wednesday and had fallen slightly by 0.3 percent to 15,705 points by the end of trading. And Wall Street also ended its soaring: The Dow Jones lost 0.7 percent to 35,490 points on Wednesday, the Nasdaq technology index hit the ground at 15,235 points.
