Dusseldorf Investors on the German stock market sold their shares again in droves on Tuesday for fear of a global recession. The Dax increased its losses over the course of the day and closed 2.9 percent lower at 12,401 points, a daily minus of more than 370 points. The daily low was just 11 points below this level at 12,390.

The Dax not only marked a new low for the year. At the same time, the leading index fell to its lowest level since November 2020. The losses since its record high last November now amount to 24 percent. Engine manufacturers MTU, Daimler Truck and Hannover Re recorded the biggest losses, each at around minus 7.7 percent.

The other indices also closed in deep red. The MDax of medium-sized stocks lost 3.4 percent. The Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 lost 2.8 percent. On Wall Street, the most important indices were also clearly in the red.
