Dax closes well above 16,000 points – but markets remain in a difficult phase

Frankfurt The German share index (Dax) is again above the important mark of 16,000 points. In a friendly market environment at the end of the trading week, the leading index was 1.3 percent higher at 16,148 points at the end of trading.

The good mood on Wall Street has spread to the German market. After the gains on the previous day, the most important indices were also in the profit zone on Friday.

Relief was provided by the fact that inflation in the euro area fell to 5.5 percent in June according to the first estimate. That was even better than previously expected. Easing in prices takes some pressure off the European Central Bank (ECB) to raise interest rates further.

The picture is somewhat clouded, however, because the so-called core inflation, which excludes energy and food, rose slightly to 5.4 percent. The core rate shows, among other things, how much inflation has become a sure-fire success.
