Frankfurt After another round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul, the Dax reached its highest closing price since the outbreak of the Ukraine war on Tuesday. According to the negotiators, Ukraine offered Russia neutrality in exchange for security guarantees. Russia’s chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky described the meeting as constructive. The Russian Defense Ministry also announced that it would reduce military activities around Kyiv and Chernihiv in order to provide a framework for the talks.

In view of these signals, the leading index Dax continued to expand its daily gains. The leading index closed 2.8 percent up at 14,820 points. This more than made up for losses after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The stock exchanges on New York’s Wall Street also opened well. The Dow Jones started with a plus of 1.1 percent, the technology exchange Nasdaq even increased 1.3 percent.
