Dax breaks the 16,000 point mark

Frankfurt It took a few attempts, but now it’s done: Germany’s most important stock market index, the Dax, exceeded the 16,000 point mark on Monday morning for the first time since mid-January 2022. At the top it rose to 16,011 points. This means that the Dax has gained 14.5 percent this year, and since the end of September the plus has totaled 33 percent.

The rally comes as a surprise to many investors and does not quite match the economic situation. Another US regional bank, the First Republic Bank, has just gone bankrupt in the USA, the uncertainty following the emergency takeover of Credit Suisse by UBS is still having an impact, and at the same time the economic prospects are clouding over, mainly because of the rapid interest rate hikes by the central banks.
