Credit Suisse dares to restart wealth management in Germany

Credit Suisse wants to hire 500 client advisors worldwide in the next few years to do business with the super-rich.

Zurich, Frankfurt Credit Suisse is reorganizing its wealth management in Germany. The major Swiss bank wants to expand business with rich and super-rich customers and will employ customer advisors at the Frankfurt location in the future, as the Handelsblatt learned in advance. Sven Stephan will be the new head of asset management in Germany. He joined Credit Suisse last year and previously headed private banking at HSBC Germany.

Robert Cielen, Head of Asset Management at CS in Europe, said: “This expansion is proof of our strong commitment to Germany as one of the most important markets for Credit Suisse’s wealth division.” The aim is to offer customers in Germany “more presence and to offer expertise”. The major Swiss bank currently mainly has investment bankers and teams for looking after professional investors (asset management) in Frankfurt.
