Despite the high number of corona infections almost every fifth German goes away for Christmas. In a survey by the opinion research institute YouGov on behalf of the German press agency, they said 13 percent, they wanted to travel to celebrate Christmas with friends or relatives. 6 percent of respondents are planning a Vacation trip. 79 percent want against it stay home over the holidays. 2 percent did not provide any information.
For the first Christmas during the corona pandemic last year, Germans were keen to travel significantly lower. At that time, in a YouGov poll, only 9 percent said they wanted to drive or fly to friends or relatives. Only one percent planned a vacation trip. 87 percent wanted back then stay at home.
This year especially have the younger travel plans for Christmas. There are among the 18 to 29 year olds 38 percent, still in the 30 to 39 age group 26 percent. Of the 60 to 69 year olds, on the other hand, only want 9 percent travel.
