Commerzbank employees fight for the right to more home offices

Frankfurt At Commerzbank, the mood is tense not only because of the ongoing reduction of 10,000 jobs. New rules for working from home have also caused displeasure among many employees in recent months.

At least for the employees in the headquarters of the Frankfurt money house, the works council has now won a right to a home office, which is more extensive than at all other major German banks: According to Handelsblatt information, the around 10,300 employees in the works council area head office are now allowed to work up to 70 percent from home work.

After the obligation to work from home was abolished in March, the Commerzbank management initially agreed a transitional arrangement with the works council that provided for up to 50 percent mobile working. However, many employees found this rate too low.
