Christmas: Mariah Carey Announces All I Want For Christmas Sequel – Music

There are two kinds of people.

There are those who say: “Mariah Carey’s Xmas hit list is one of the few constants in life” (greetings to my colleague at this point).

And then there are those who would like to throw the radio straight out of the window when the first lines “I don’t want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I need”.

Now – 27 years after the release of her Nerv number “All I Want For Christmas” – the pop diva has announced that it will be adding more Christmas stuff: On November 5th, “Fall In Love With Christmas” will be on the market.

You don’t have to be a Grinch to say: PLEASE DON’T AGAIN!

Because an audio sample has appeared on Instagram. And the song combines the two classic “All I Want For Christmas” success virtues: Schmalz in the voice and a lot of kitsch. The US singers Khalid (23) and Kirk Franklin (51), who are relatively unknown in this country, are also part of the party.

The tootling is uncomfortable in the ear. And so it is certainly not just “Silent Night, Holy Night” traditionalists who are asking themselves: The new song will not mutate into a second “All I Want For Christmas” and will haunt us for the next few decades?

Let me tell you: stay cool, friends! Because that won’t happen.

On the one hand – and this is the good news – our time today is much more fast-paced than the 90s. Accordingly, songs become hits relatively easily. However, they no longer survive as they did then.

On the other hand – and this is unfortunately the bad news – “All I Want For Christmas” is the top dog. And so the Christmas song of the 51- or 52-year-olds (as it should be for a diva, tells us) Mariah Carey their correct age) remain for quite a while.

In this sense, close your ears and through: “I don’t want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I need” …
