Arms shipment warning: China accuses US of disinformation

Beijing has accused the United States of spreading disinformation after warnings about possible arms deliveries from China to Russia. “We urge the US side to seriously consider what they themselves have done and to do something more concrete to defuse the situation and promote peace talks,” a Beijing foreign ministry spokesman said Monday. The US should stop blaming others and “spreading disinformation”. Washington, which has itself supplied arms continuously since the war began, is in no position to make demands or pressure China.

The US is an important ally of Ukraine and the largest arms supplier for the war-torn country.

The United States had previously expressed concern about possible deliveries. Foreign Minister Antony Blinken reported on CBS on Sunday information that China “is considering providing lethal support” to Russia. When asked what he meant by that, Blinken replied: “Weapons, primarily weapons.” The EU foreign ministers want to discuss new Russia sanctions and further military aid for Ukraine on Monday. The war has already lasted a year this Friday.
