Kherson Because the branch in his hand is too short to reach the propaganda poster, Mischa climbs over the fence and gets a longer one. His friends cheer him on and take cell phone videos as he tries to shred the paper with his improvised tool. “Russians and Ukrainians – one people, one goal,” reads the huge poster high above a street in the center of Kherson.

But he doesn’t scratch the paper for too long before he gets tired: the message remains legible, but a larger device is needed for a distance. “We have made a start. Others will complete our work,” explains the teenager and laughs and walks away with his group.
