Cheap electric car is no longer a dream!

BYD, one of the world’s largest electric car manufacturers, continues to grow. Competing with Tesla with its sales figures, especially in China, the company aims to enter the European market as well. An important step has come from the Chinese manufacturer, which is also closely related to Turkey.

BYD will open a factory in Europe, cars will become cheaper

It was noted that BYD, which wants to open up to the European market, is currently in talks with five different countries to establish a production facility. It is stated that the strongest country among the candidates is France. Other candidate countries include Germany, Spain, Poland and Hungary.

BYD Chairman of the Board, Stella Li, had previously stated that the electric car manufacturer wanted to produce in Europe. BYD’s establishment of a factory in Europe will undoubtedly benefit the vehicle prices in Turkey the most.

As it is known, an additional 40 percent customs tax was imposed in our country for cars produced in China in the past months. With the addition of a minimum 10 percent SCT on top of the additional customs tax, Chinese cars are left alone with a total tax of 54 percent. This made Chinese cars not as cheap as expected.

BYD can get rid of the additional 40 percent tax applied in our country with the cars to be produced in Europe. This means that vehicles are offered with only 10 percent SCT. Thus, we may see much cheaper electric cars from the Chinese manufacturer in the future.

The Chinese electric car maker is expected to determine where the factory will be located by the end of this year. By 2025, BYD’s European facility will start production. With BYD starting production in Europe, we may encounter much cheaper electric cars.

With the models to be produced in Europe, BYD will take a very ambitious position in our country in terms of electric cars. So what do you think about BYD starting production in Europe? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
