The “German Comedy Prize” was awarded for the 25th time on Friday evening in Cologne. The decision was not made by a jury, however, but by the audience themselves – online over the past two weeks and by phone during the live show.
The moderators Steven Gätjen (49) and Katrin Bauerfeind (39) hosted the evening – and were able to announce the first winner after a short time: Michael “Bully” Herbig (53 ) get a trophy.
However, he hadn’t even arrived and thanked him via live video from his studio: “The work was done by the others. I am hugging you guys and I’m really happy. “
But not only Herbig shone with absence – the next winner also stayed away from the event. Carolin Kebekus (41) won in the “Best Satire” category, but was represented by Katrin Bauerfeind, who accepted the award for her.
The laugh came surprisingly short that evening – a performance by Sebastian Puffpaff (45) in particular caused outrage.
He started his stand-up program straight away with bitter slogans: “Dear ladies and gentlemen. So, everything is now mixed together … Among other things, we have learned that toxic relationships should never be ended without a very good law firm. ”
From this topic he switched directly to Afghanistan: “My comedic highlight, that was actually the Afghan army. Then comes the Taliban. And they throw their rifle away immediately! ”Not only did he catch no laughter in the audience – the audience at home also had no fun at all.
Kawus Kalantar (28) was honored as “Best Newcomer”, and he couldn’t resist a little tip: “Thanks to my mother, my father. I wish they could … Well, they could watch it, but they don’t watch it. “
When comedian Ralf Schmitz (46) visited a family at home “by chance”, brought a Mickie Krause (51) roaring “one week awake” into the garden and started a polonaise, the audience suspected why so many celebrities had not even appeared:
Felix Lobrecht (32) had won two prizes (best comedy podcast, best comedian), but stayed home sick. The nominated Jan Böhmermann (40) had put a doll in his place as a replacement. And Klaas Heufer-Umlauf (38) only sat on his chair as a cardboard comrade and had instead sent his “Baywatch Berlin” colleague Jakob Lundt (35).
Perhaps that had something to do with a topic that accompanied the award ceremony of the Comedy Prize: the allegations against Luke Mockridge (32), who had been withdrawn from the nomination for this reason. Hazel Brugger (27) clearly positioned himself with a T-shirt that reads “Consequences for Comedian xy”.
She gave the laudation for actress Maren Kroymann (72), who received the honorary award. One topic was particularly important to Kroymann in her acceptance speech: “Now I’m glad I came here. I thought about it because this elephant is hovering over the room. A colleague of ours committed attacks, and a young colleague said that. ”
This was followed by clear words: “I would have liked those responsible here to have had the balls to say about the award and the broadcaster: We show solidarity not only with our artist, but also with the women who are affected. I would like these women to be taken seriously, to be respected, to be believed. “
