Berlin Germany is far away from the Ukraine and still has to prepare for Russian attacks. The security authorities in Germany fear massive hacker attacks as soon as the West reacts to the Russian invasion of Ukraine with serious sanctions.

“We have red alert,” says the environment of the federal government. The security authorities have seldom been “as alert as they are now”. It is about “detecting” in good time what could happen to the Federal Republic.

A major concern is a hybrid war against the government, the Bundestag as well as the energy supply and other areas of critical infrastructure. Possibly graduated, say security circles, with a grueling escalation.

The latest cyber attacks against Ukraine are seen as a warning shot. Suspected Russian hackers attacked the Ministry of Defense in Kiev and two state banks last week. Websites were paralyzed and bank customers could no longer pay with credit cards.
