Black hole in our galaxy spotted for the first time!

At the center of the Milky Way Galaxy, which includes Earth, there is a black hole called Sagittarius A*. Until now, it was thought to be impossible to see. However, a team, including Turkish scientist Feryal Özel, was able to image it for the first time.

NASA has achieved this too: The sound of the black hole has been recorded!

NASA has once again made history today. Here is the sound of the black hole recorded by the Chandra X-ray Observatory…

Black hole named Sagittarius A* spotted for the first time!

First discovered on February 13, 1974, Sagittarius A* is exactly 25,640 light-years away from our Earth. In recent years, it was thought to be a supermassive black hole, as it was a very concentrated source of astronomical radio.

Sagittarius A* black hole

As a matter of fact, the facts emerged as a result of the observations of the star S2, which is in orbit around Sagittarius A*. However, it turned out that there is a supermassive black hole at the very heart of our Milky Way Galaxy. Now, the first image was taken by the team, including Physics Professor Özel, and the doubts were removed.

Sharing on the subject on social media accounts, the Turkish Space Agency said:

One of the golden days in the history of astronomy!

The @ehtelescope team, including our Turkish scientist Feryal Özel, Professor of Astronomy and Physics at the University of Arizona, obtained the first image of the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A* at the center of the Milky Way.

With this important work, dust and shadow around the black hole were detected for the first time. Sagittarius A* weighs more than 4 million times the mass of the Sun. It is located about 27,000 Light Years from Earth.
