Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu became the candidate of the Nation Alliance.

As you know, on Turkey’s agenda to cryptocurrencies includes legal regulations. Although AK Party officials stated in their previous statements that the regulations regarding cryptocurrencies are at the final stage, they have not been on the parliamentary agenda until today.

Considering that the election process, which will take place on May 14, has started, regulations regarding cryptocurrencies will be made in the next ruling period.

While investors are wondering how to regulate cryptocurrencies after the election, the previous statements of the Nation Alliance candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu about cryptocurrencies are curious.

“Blow to Financial Technology”

The only regulation regarding cryptocurrencies in Turkey is the “Regulation not to use crypto assets in payments” issued by the Central Bank in April 2021.

Kılıçdaroğlu, who criticized the Central Bank’s regulation on cryptocurrencies at that time, used the following statements:

“Again, a midnight bullying, they couldn’t get rid of this mentality. They will do a foolish thing at midnight. Before such decisions are made, all stakeholders are discussed. Who did you consult with the crypto decision, oh power? I will sit down and consult with all stakeholders on this issue.

I talked to different stakeholders all day. Blockchain and crypto are the only areas where our $1 billion (Unicorn) initiatives will emerge. They dealt a blow to Turkey’s financial technology initiatives. They have no tolerance for young people. No no no!”

We Will Support Web 3.0, Remove Paypal Ban

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu gave the message, “As soon as we come to power, we will lift the PayPal ban and expand web 3.0 platforms,” ​​in the post he shared on his social media account after meeting with digital sector stakeholders during his trip to the USA.

Kılıçdaroğlu said:

“I met with international digital payment systems, World Bank executives and digital industry stakeholders. Young entrepreneurs in Turkey like PayPal etc. Thanks to the channels, he was earning serious income every year. Products with high added value were going to the whole world from every city in Turkey.

What did they do? They banned it. The cost of the work they do without consulting the sectors is very high. Turkey has lost at least 10 billion dollars in 6 years. They are harassing our entrepreneurial youth. As soon as it comes to power, we will lift the PayPal ban and expand Web 3.0 platforms.

Entrepreneurial ecosystems will be our main stakeholder. We will end the economic, scientific and political interregnum in Turkey. A country where our entrepreneurs and young people can exist freely is very close. We will do this with the brightest minds of the world and our country.”

Statements Regarding Cryptocurrencies Included in the Joint Text of the Nation Alliance

“We will transfer all the functions of the public based on licenses, title deeds, certificates, diplomas and similar records, property declarations of public employees, all fixtures and inventory lists in the public sector to the blockchain infrastructure that is open to public inspection.

By establishing an international trade platform in the blockchain architecture, we will reduce bureaucracy in foreign trade transactions, reduce intermediation costs, and establish a transparent and reliable foreign trade infrastructure.

We will enact crypto money and asset legislation and eliminate uncertainties in the industry.

We will take steps to regulate and control exchanges related to crypto assets, provide confidence in these markets and protect small investors.

We will implement legal regulations regarding technologies that will enable the integration of digital assets with payment systems.”
