As it is known, the SEC detected that some of the former Coinbase employees were insider trading and declared a number of cryptocurrencies, including AMP, as securities.

Initially, former SEC Chairman Jay Clayton said that Bitcoin is not a security.

Then the SEC’s former director of corporate finance, William Hinman, explained that Ethereum does not exhibit the characteristics of a security.

The SEC named nine digital assets it claims to be securities in its report. According to Binance.US, out of these nine tokens, only AMP is listed on the Binance.US platform.

Other crypto-assets that the authority declared as securities were: AMP, RLY, DDX, XYO, RGT, LCX, POWR, DFX, CHROME.

Binance.US said that trading of AMP may continue on the platform in the future, but said, “We are taking this step now until there is more clarity on the classification of AMP.”

According to Coin Market Cap data, the price of the AMP altcoin has dropped nearly 7% in the last 24 hours and is trading at $0.0084 at the time of this writing.

AMP broke its all-time high price record on June 16, reaching as high as $0.1211. Today, it is trading around 92% lower than this level.
